Why This Workshop Matters

 

The transition from Upper Primary into Lower Secondary school is one of the most significant developmental stages in a child’s school career. As children navigate increasing academic demands, changing friendships, social pressures, growing independence, alongside the physical and emotional changes associated with pre-adolescence, many experience heightened levels of stress, worry, self-doubt, and emotional overwhelm.

 

Research shows emotional wellbeing during these formative years plays a crucial role in a child’s academic success, social development and overall resilience. Evidence-based Mindfulness and Yoga practices have been shown to provide powerful support during this period of transition:

 

Mindfulness → helps reduce anxiety, improve emotional regulation, enhance attention and self-awareness in children and adolescents (Zoogman et al., Mindfulness, 2015).

 

Yoga → improves focus, emotional resilience, self-confidence, body awareness, body acceptance and stress management skills (Khalsa et al., Journal of Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics, 2012).

 

Our dedicated and carefully designed Mindful Transitions Workshop, created specifically for children aged 8–12 years, equips students with practical tools to navigate change with greater confidence, calm and resilience. Through engaging, age-appropriate mindfulness activities, movement-based yoga practices, breathing techniques and reflective exercises, students develop essential life skills supporting emotional regulation, focus, self-esteem, positive attitude, positive relationships and a healthy mindset.

 

Delivered within a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment, this workshop helps children build the emotional foundations needed to thrive academically, socially and personally as they transition into the next stage of their educational journey.
