Does Yoga & Mindfulness for children actually work, or is it just cute? 

​

We get this question asked the most & it is a very fair one — Instagram is actively growing profiles full of adorable kids in tree pose; however parents want to know what the real benefit is beyond achieving & mastering the foundational balancing pose. 

​

There is one very specific thing about children's emotions: the brain part regulating the control response (prefrontal cortex) doesn't fully develop until the mid-20's. When a 9-year-old "overreacts", they are not being dramatic — their nervous system genuinely doesn't yet have the training & therefore has no management to slam the brakes when triggered. They feel everything is bigger, comes at them faster & with far less ability to bring themselves back down.

This is where Yoga & Mindfulness become game changers: through breath-work, movement & stillness, kids learn to feel the shift in their nervous system: from activated & triggered to calmed & controlled. They build the neural pathways their brain is yet to develop. Over time, this rewires how they encounter being challenged by stress. They have a solid toolset their body recognizes; as opposed to exploding, shutting or spiraling down.

Without the right tools, these patterns can build over time & affect their confidence, focus & emotional wellbeing. In this workshop, we help children understand what is happening in their body & mind, & most importantly, give them simple ways to regulate, reset & feel more in control.
